Crystal G. Rouse grew up in Wilson, North Carolina. She attended Barton College where she majored in English with minors in Hispanic Studies and Writing. While attending college, Crystal was inducted into the Alpha Chi honors society. For three years, she served as editor of the Barton College student literary journal, Lifelines. In 2000, she graduated summa cum laude.

Crystal attended law school at North Carolina Central University School of Law evening program. While in law school she served as Student Bar Association class representative. She also continued to work full-time for the Social Security Administration, where she adjudicated claims for Social Security Disability.

Crystal worked a total of eight years as a Social Security disability specialist. Thereafter, she worked with the North Carolina Division of Employment Security Hearings and Appeals Unit, where she presided over administrative hearings for unemployment benefits.

Crystal is Past President of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice (NCAJ) Disability Advocacy Section. She currently serves on the NCAJ Board of Governors, the NCAJ Education Committee, and the NCAJ Young Lawyers Division Executive Committee. She has given numerous continuing education presentations to attorneys on various topics of interest in the area of Social Security Disability. In 2015, 2016 and 2017, she was selected as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in the area of Social Security Disability.

Since 2010, Crystal’s practice focuses exclusively in the area of Social Security Disability advocacy. Crystal joined the Charles Hall Law Firm in 2017. She currently lives in Raleigh, North Carolina. In her free time, she enjoys writing fiction, sketching pencil & charcoal drawings and painting.
