Derrick Arrowood grew up in Nebo, North Carolina. He attended McDowell High School in Marion, North Carolina where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the yearbook and graduated with honors.

After graduating high school, he attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill majoring in English and History. After graduating with highest distinction from the University of North Carolina, he attended the University of North Carolina School of Law, where he was a staff member for the North Carolina Law Review before graduating with honors.

Derrick joined the Charles Hall Law Firm in 2011 assisting primarily with appeals. He currently lives in Durham, North Carolina. In his free time, Derrick enjoys reading, spending time with his dogs, being outdoors, and cheering his North Carolina Tar Heels on to victory.
